Other than those in the UK and Australian categories, these images are predominately from my travels while working overseas. With very few exceptions the photographs were taken with little or no opportunity for me to control either the environment or the subjects who, for the most part, posed for me completely of their own accord and with their own interest or excitement in response to the camera.

Although the pictures chosen predominately demonstrate joy and happiness being shown by both young and older people, it should be noted that the images of Aceh were taken in the months following the extraordinary destruction of the 2004 Tsunami and those from the African countries were all during periods of civil war or severe unrest.
