In late 2015, I decided to pay heed to many suggestions that I should invesitgate making kinetic works combining some of my more technical skills with the desire to create sculptures, this being something I had been rather avoiding due to feeling that consideration of the mechancial, electrical and electronic aspects would dominate the more visual creative process.<\/p>\n
The first result of this is The Passage of Time in whch the three elements of contrasting colours rotate gently at varying speeds and directions creating a random pattern of changing shapes and colours.<\/p>\n
The work responds to the presence of observers but returns to a sleeping position of a single cloured disc when unattended.<\/p>\n
Technically, the system is controlled by microprocessors driving low power servo motors, the moving elements being supported on a mechanical design intended to last decades but with easily replacable components should this ever be required.<\/p>\n
